Mr. and Mrs. Brantley

May 2010 I was ending my freshman year of high school, Ryan was a graduating senior. I first met him when I visited a church with some family of mine. I never looked at him then as someone I would date. However, one thing led to another. He started to message me and get my attention. My best friend Emily convinced me to invite him over to my house one afternoon. I told Emily repeatedly that day, “I don’t like him, why do I want to invite him over?” So he came over. Emily and her boyfriend sat down, Ryan and I sat on the floor. He kept sliding his hand over to mine (trying hard to hold my hand) and I snatched away every time. After that, few coins fell out of his pocket so (mean me) took a penny and hit him in the eye. It’s been love ever since. We have had so many ups and downs (7 years in the making, who wouldn’t?). I prayed hard through the bad and praised God through the good. May 9th, 2015 Ryan planned a birthday party for himself and my meme (her birthday is May 9th and his the 11th). I was totally convinced it was a party. He invited his family and mine and we ate and had cake like you do at any birthday party. As the party was dwindling down, he got in front of everyone and thanked them for coming like a good party host. It was then that he called me up to him in front of everyone. He faced me and started to say how we’d been together for quite some time, and that he loved me and had a question. He got down on one knee and asked me what I’d wanted to hear for many years, “Will you marry me?” I was in shock. I had waited so long to hear those words and it was finally my turn. 2 years later (now April 2017) I got to have the best wedding day ever. There is not one thing I would have changed about that day. The weather was perfect, the venue was beautiful, and the food was delicious. To top it off, when I walked through those rustic country doors Ryan had a reaction out a movie. He nearly dropped to his knees and cried like a baby. I always knew he loved him, but his reaction spoke to me. He was just as ready to make a lifetime commitment as I was. God only knows how much I love that man.
